New song: W H A T it takes

This is a new song I wrote last night. Sorry It's sort of a downer, it was rainy for a few days and it threw off my happy groove I was rocking last week.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this one!

Where I'm at

Wow, It's MARCH? I've had this blog for 3 months now. I'm not totally sure who is out there listening but the page count goes up so I'm assuming you're all still awake out there ;)

I am sort of at this plateau with my guitar playing and my career. I am doing more shows (musical theatre) etc. and focusing on graduating college in 2 months, but as far as my music career, it was like I was always excited for the next step, and had goals. i.e.

goal 1: Learn guitar goal 2: write songs goal 3: compile an album goal 4: record an album goal 5: produce an album goal 6: release it...
... all goals complete.

and now it's like what next? I'm putting myself out there via the internet, I have the album out, and I'm not quite sure what comes next, people say you get a break, or someone sees you, I don't know - "all the stars allign"?
Everyone keeps asking what I am going to go when I graduate. um, be a singer? I guess it isn't the most practical but it's been my answer since they asked me when i was little : what are you doing to be when you grow up? " A SINGER!" It's what I am. It's what I do. I guess I'll just keep practicing until the stars allign.

The P A R T Y { r e c a p }

What an incredible week. { and long too.. }

I started pre-sales on February 7th, and 7 days later released the CD at Rugby in Georgetown. People asked me all week " Are you excited " & obviously, the answer was yes, but this was also my first album, & I knew I had the support of family and friends but I was still nervous about the reactions to it. The lyrics on the album are sort of diary entries that rhyme to me, so of course, it's vulnerable.

After several days of being trapped in the snow { and not having a car for 10 days } I was worried also... would the CD's get here on time? Will everyone make it? ... I got to the Cafe that morning and didn't quite get to hang all the decorations I had imagined because a brunch crowd came in but nevertheless I think it was just enough to be special to me.

The dinner crowed lingered, which had me on my toes, but soon, friends and family packed in- and with every new face through the door, my heart pounded with excitement, I had no idea so many people cared so much, and whew were they dressed to the nines....

I even got on the bar to sing - and boy was it hard to sing loud without a mic. But looking out and seeing faces from so many years passed... just meant the world to me. The night was a huge success both for the album and for me.

The Release P A R T Y / 2.14.1010

Today is a huge day for me... it is the day I get to share this huge project with you all.

It is hard to imagine that when this blog first started I was just starting in the studio and now, dozens of boxes fill my room with copies of the CD, for you! Tonight is the party @ Rugby Cafe in Georgetown (Wisconsin ave. & M Street) , They sort of had a brunch crowd early today so I didn't quite get to finish decorating :( oh well, less christmas lights than promised, but nontheless, candles, etc abound. Oh and lots of Valentines Candy!

It is the first beautiful sunny day in weeks & I am greatful for that. I am also greatful for everyone who is coming especially those who traveled long distances to get here. And for those who can't come for their mail-orders. I am just so proud and overwhelemd with love right now, honestly....

Ill post this blog as is, and come back after the party to fill you in.
