B L O O M B A R S : The Weekly Bloom

One of the most wonderful things about coming to the east coast is that we get to sing at Bloombars. Bloombars is my home away from home. My musical home...

A newsletter went out the week before our performance - and I was the featured writer in it. If you don't get the Weekly Bloom, you should definitly sign up for updates from them as well as artistically all over DC ... Here was my insert...

Me & Mr. Cassidy Perfoms This Sunday at 8:30 pm.

Dear Friends of BloomBars,

For those of you reading The Weekly Bloom for the first time this month, welcome! As a DC Native and alumnus of both the Duke Ellington School of the Arts and American University, the network of artists I've had the pleasure of hearing, seeing, and knowing throughBloomBars has become a beautiful and intricate web of communal joy and creation.

I am always amazed at how many people fit into the "garden" being built there and how the community grows each and every time I go. I have been writing music and playing guitar from a young age, but had been afraid to perform it publicly. I was brought to BloomBars by the MakePeace Brothers in the spring of 2009, when BloomBars held only one evening event a week. My music was received with smiling faces and encouraging words, and the stage at BloomBars became my home for creating and sharing my art. BloomBars gave me the confidence and guidance to write and produce my first solo album, and eventually, have the courage to move to Los Angeles, in pursuit of my dream.

I don't believe I could ever begin to thank John Chambers and all of BloomBars' supporters and volunteers for the gift it has given myself, my family, my friends and fellow artists, in a way that would do it justice. I returned to BloomBars in January to play the first Seed The Sound Sunday of the 2011 year & I am thrilled to return again this Sunday March 6th at 8:30 pm.

After a successful fundraiser on IndieGoGo, I am performing at Seed the Sound as part of my Los Angeles duo "Me & Mr.Cassidy" -- our East Coast premiere. We are stopping through Washington D.C. on our way to North Carolina to record our new full-length album. We have taken root in indie folk music with a bouncy pop feel, and have been performing weekly around the Hollywood and San Diego Music scene alongside fellow artists Bushwalla, Jessie Payo, Avasa & Matty Love, Parker Ainsworth, The MakePeace Brothers and many more.

Our 12-track record tells a story in chronological order of two characters we've created deep in love. The Ups and downs of the music parallel the ups and downs in their life from Childhood until their hairs turn grey. We decided to premiere the story for the first time ever here at BloomBars.

With great love & joy,
Hope Leigh Rollins
Singer, Songwriter & BloomBars Ambassador

Such G R A T I T U D E

If you have ever been to San Fransisco, and you weren't able to make it into Cafe Gratitude - that is sad sad sad my friend! I have never been to San Fransisco but since I live in Los Angeles - I am just as lucky because one has JUST opened here! We attended the Grand Opening Party this past Friday and it lit up my heart! Scott, Joani, & I went and our good friends Matty & Avasa Love, Jason Mraz, and The Makepeace brothers ( All of em! ) played some sweet live tunes for the crowd. This was all while tasting their delicious vegan treats & wine as it was passed around.

The music, the food, but most importantly the people were all so wonderful I can't think of many places I'd rather be....ever. I am so excited to spend sunny mornings or rainy afternoons at the cafe making friends & taking care of my body with healthy fillins'

At the end of Make Brothers set they sang the final tune of their new album "Slow down Feel Love" called " Thank You" and all of the sangers came up on stage. Scott & I joined the likes of Jessie Payo, Matty & Avasa, Jason Mraz, Justin Willman ( he thought they said MAGICIAN not MUSICIANS teehee) Tristan Prettyman, Jon Marro, Alyse Fischer, and so many more hopped up on stage and literally rocked the stage. It felt like it was going to break, but it was such a beautiful moment for the entire community of artists to have everyone on stage. Smiles all around.

I highly recommend you checking it out:

a G O A L : met

Such Wonderful News on EVERY ANGLE.
Did ya hear?
We Reached OUR INDIE GO-GO-GOAL
( say that 5 times fast killah!)

I feel so blessed to have such incredible people in my life. Together, Scott & I raised MORE than what we asked for to create our new album.

So what does that mean?

Extra money means it can cover the costs of extra musicians to sing and play on the album and more copies can be made- awesome!

Can You still donate?

Oh yes you sure can! By donating now, you continue to help allieviate extra costs for Scott & I, you pre order the album for yourself or take advantage of some of the other AWESOME prizes through Indie Gogo.

The other good news is that a few dates on our trip have been moved around. Our Producer Justin Huey, is the key/vocals player for the band Steel Train. They got asked to play on the George Lopez show during our original recording days. This shift in time has turned out to be a HUGE blessing. NOW we are going to be in Washington D.C. on the night of March 6th and we are able to play at BLOOMBARS!

Check us out & the WONDERFUL Phillip Noss:

Last week was such a roller coaster! THANK YOU to everyone who was a part of it in ANYWAY! I was fighting loosing my voice ( and am still struggling with a little cold ) But we tackled a show every other day all week!

L O V E .

Scott and I played St.Nicks Naked Angels Writers Workshop for the first time since November on Tuesday. It is always such a
joy to play there. We go almost every week as actors or just to watch and now the entire audience is more like a room full of friends so performing there feels both comfortable and beneficial. I trust the artitstic P.O.V. of all of the folks there since they are all writers and performers and lovers of art. We get such positive and helpful feedback and support from the St.Nicks Crew. I can't say enough thank yous!

On thursday, we had what I believe to be our best show yet! We played at Genghis Cohen, as we have every month since last fall, but this time, I took a hand in setting it all up and sure am glad
I did. I love Genghis Cohen Artists Showcase on Thursday's because it exposes you to 5 bands in 2.5 hours and I love meeting and hearing new people. The struggle, is that a lot of times, the style of the bands clash and people's audiences don't always stay the whole time. It feels sort of like a revolving door and less of a community space. Bob Legget who runs the night there trusted me to pick the bands for that thursday so that we would all be cohesive and friends, and our audiences would all stay for the whole evening. We brought on board Matty & Avasa Love , Jessie Payo and Ciaran Makepeace and everyone brought a long a room full of smiling friends. As always, We all grabbed a giant table and sat 18 of our closests friends down for a lovely chinese dinner afterwards. It was truly an incredible night.
I remember our first time singing at genghis cohen, and literally, almost no one came just to see us. This was the first time that we got paid because we actually trippled the amount of people we were required to have show up. WHAT?! awesome right? THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU guys. You are AMAZING. what an incredible group of lovers I am in.

By the way, If you haven't before check out those artists above, I assure you, You will NOT be dissapointed.:

Me & Mr.Cassidy @ Genghis Cohen. 2.10.2011

Finally On Saturday Scott & I ( and joani!) hopped in the car to head down to Old Down San Diego to play at an Art Gallery opening/premiere show at Tara Nichole Galleries. I was so worried all day about my voice it had been going in and out and I tried everything to get it back! I rested in the car on the way to- and I suppose adreniline and lowering the key or a song or two was enough to let this evening fly!
This was a fun night because there were SO many performers ranging from cartoonists to nail art circus performers and comedians!

Inside the art Gallery the walls were covered in such inspiring work, as well as creative new instruments one of the artists had been making. most of them were a mix between a ukelele and a banjo - so much fun to play around with!

The other cool part about this show was that it was outdoors, and since it was an art show we played on a stage built inside of a frame. I was also very excited to branch out of my normal fashion and wear something a little more "Artsy"

We can not thank enough Steve Altman, Bob Legget, Tara Nichole, and Everyone else who has booked us for these shows. It has been such an amazing journey thus far....

K A R M A is a gift.

I am a firm believer in Karma. My dad used to say " You need to earn trust" , and to be honest, I always hate that. I trust everyone until they give me a reason not to. I like to give to people before they give to me. Hopefully, They will give back, but if not, at least I go to bed knowing I gave. I try to help even when I know I won't be helped in return, and boy do I love. I love you. I love you even when ya probably wish I didn't. I just love and don't stop loving!

The indie-gogo process has been amazing for us because people are giving to us, but we get to give back to them! Which is probably the only reason I can even stomach the humility of asking for money and support at all.

In fact, I had already donated for 8 other Indiegogo projects before we had even thought about making our own, and several of those groups have donated back. It's such a world of reciprocal.

Well sweet Karma is now back! Indie gogo is giving us SO MUCH LOVE. we are featured EVERYWHERE we can be on their site.

On the websites Search Page for Sites. { As a featured site }

Listed as a featured site and on www.indiegogo.com 's actual HOMEPAGE.

We have already reached 2/3 our goal. We are so excited to keep going, we can even continue to get donations after we reach our goal if we do... AMAZING.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS GIVEN OR SPREAD THE WORD. WE LOVE YOU BACK AND ARE SO EXCITED TO SHARE OUR MUSIC WITH YOU.
